What is Multiplication?
Repeated addition to find a product
Multiplication is one of the four basic arithmetic operations. When you multiply, you find the total of equal groups. For example, 4 × 3 means "4 groups of 3" or 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12. Use times tables for small numbers and place value or partial products for larger numbers.
Times Tables
Memorize products up to 12 × 12 for quick mental math. Use patterns and skip-counting to build fluency.
Practice Multiplication →Partial Products
Break larger multiplications into smaller steps. Multiply each digit, then add the partial products.

Key steps for multiplying whole numbers
Multiply by Place Value
Multiply the ones first, then tens, hundreds. Add partial products or use the standard algorithm.
Carrying When Needed
When a partial product exceeds 9, write the ones digit and carry the tens to the next multiplication.
